Flu Vaccine for the 2009-2010 Flu Season
November 17th, 2009
This is an unprecedented flu season. Here in Massachusetts and across the country, we are dealing with two different types of flu-the regular seasonal flu (which occurs during the months of January through March) and the new H1N1 flu, which we are seeing at the present time.
Vaccine manufacturers are producing vaccines against both types of flu.
This has never been done before, so there have been some challenges in the production and distribution of the vaccines. As a result, all states have
received much smaller amounts of H1N1 and seasonal vaccine than we were toll to expect.
We will post on this website when we have vaccine available. Because there are not enough doses for everyone who wants to be vaccinated, the vaccine will be given to the most at-risk populations first. Once most of the high risk children and teens are vaccinated, we will hold clinics to vaccinate all healthy patients. However, these clinics will not likely take place until December.
If you have specific questions regarding the vaccines, the State has
provided a hot line to answer ALL flu-related questions. These phone lines
are answered by experts in this area. Dial 211 directly for assistance.
We understand and share in your frustration and ask for your patience.
Please refrain from calling the phone nurses, they have become overwhelmed with questions. It is delaying their ability to help parents with questions related to sick children.
New Patients
We are accepting new patients, please review our Practice information.
We must receive your records before we can make any well child/physical appointments. Also, kindly change your PCP to one of our Pediatricians with your insurance company before the first visit.
