Spring
During the spring season
in New England there are sixty-seven pollinating trees and shrubs.
Each of them will pollinate for two to three weeks, and they will
be identified on these calendars. Whenever you or your children experience
any symptoms of nasal or pulmonary sensitivity please note pollens
that are prevalent on those days.
The value of
following the pattern of pollination is twofold: first you can identify
the offending pollen or pollens more accurately than if you relied
on traditional scratch tests from an allergist; second, you can
anticipate a week or weeks that may be irritating once the offending
pollens are identified and treat yourself expectantly. This process
takes a good deal of work, but the results are the most valid and
the second and third years will be predictable enough to control
most of your symptoms before they get too severe.
